About Us
K9 Commando was founded by Kylie and Dan, bringing together complementary experience in dog training, conservation and ecology, working dog teams, and operational planning. Both have experience working with operational dog teams and have trained alongside leading professionals in the UK, Europe, and the United States.
Kylie has over 10 years of experience in animal training, including an extensive career as a motion picture animal trainer, and more than 8 years in conservation and ecology. She holds degrees in Conservation Biology and Anthrozoology, combining academic knowledge with practical experience.
Dan’s background as a Royal Marine Commando has shaped his expertise in leadership, operational planning, and teamwork.
Conservation Detection Dog Services
Our conservation detection dog teams support wildlife conservation, ecological surveys, and species monitoring.
Alongside field deployment, we provide specialist consulting for conservation detection dog projects, supporting survey design, project development, operational planning, and program implementation. We also work with organizations and detection dog teams to provide tailored training, mentoring, and operational support.
Through workshops, presentations, and public engagement, we are committed to sharing knowledge and promoting the role of conservation detection dogs in conservation and ecology.
Ecology Services
We provide professional ecology services for consultancy, conservation, research, and environmental projects. With experience across terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems, we deliver ecological surveys, protected species work, and specialist field support tailored to your project requirements.
From smaller, targeted surveys to large-scale projects requiring ongoing ecological support, we work alongside clients and project teams to provide practical and reliable ecological services. Our approach is flexible and tailored to the specific needs, timescales, and environmental requirements of each project.
Working Dog Consultancy
Our working dog consultancy helps organizations develop, assess, and support effective working dog teams. We provide practical, experience-led guidance to help clients understand where working dogs can contribute, how their individual strengths can be supported, and how teams can be developed to work effectively within their intended environment.
We support handlers and their dogs through practical training, coaching, assessment, and ongoing development. Our focus is on building trust, clear communication, confidence, consistency, and strong working relationships. Teams can be assessed against their intended role and working environment, providing an objective understanding of performance and areas for further development.
Whether supporting an established team or helping an organization develop a new working dog program, we aim to create partnerships that are effective, sustainable, and built around the strengths and welfare of each individual dog.
Bed Bug Detection Services
We provide professional bed bug detection dog services for private residences and commercial clients. Our specially trained detection dogs use their exceptional sense of smell to locate bed bug activity quickly and accurately, supported by experienced handlers.
We provide thorough inspections to help identify bed bug activity and give clients the information they need to make informed decisions.
Whether you require an inspection for a home, business, hotel, or commercial property, our detection services provide reliable results to support informed treatment decisions.
K9 Security Services
Our general purpose K9 security teams provide professional dog handling services for a wide range of operational requirements. From patrols and access control to asset protection and event security, our teams deliver a highly visible and proactive security presence.
Working alongside experienced handlers, our trained security dogs help deter potential threats while enhancing the safety of people, property, and critical infrastructure through reliable, professional operational support.
