Join us for a fun and informal navigation workshop at BrewDog Plymouth, where we’ll cover the basics of finding your way with confidence. Over drinks (and food if you like), we’ll go through essential skills including map reading, how to use a compass, understanding grid references, basic orienteering, and simple route planning. This session is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their knowledge before heading out onto the hills.
It’s also highly recommended for those joining our next club adventure on Saturday, 23 August, when we’ll be heading to Dartmoor to put these skills to the test. This adventure will be the last event of the month — and a great opportunity to practise what you’ve learned. If you’re planning to take part in our more advanced navigation challenge in September, attending both this workshop and the Dartmoor outing will give you a strong foundation. Whether you're building confidence or just curious about maps and mountains, this workshop is a great place to start.
This one’s mainly for the humans so you can focus on learning — but if your dog is happy to relax during the workshop, they’re more than welcome to come along.
What to Bring:
Notebook
Pens/pencils
Compass
OS Map
Highlighters/colored pens
Ruler
Membership Requirement:
This event is only open to members of the K9 Commando Adventure Club. To join the club and sign up for future adventures, head over to our Shop page. You can also read more about the club here.
Please confirm your attendance no later than 13 August via email, text, or by messaging in the Adventure Club group chat.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out before the day.
